Nothing is more frustrating than getting
in your vehicle to take a ride and discovering it can not be operated. My 2010
Honda Acura TL broke down last night when I was about to tour around the city
with my girlfriend.
The Check Engine light on my dashboard
turned on without any sign. Even though I have never planned to work on the car
myself, when that Check Engine light came on, it could be a serious problem
with my Acura. I was feared if I drove it to the nearest car repair shop to get
the error codes red, it could cause damage to my engine or other Honda HDS.
Usually it was not that serious, but I
preferred not to take the risk. There was a car washing shop about 500
meters from my home. I rushed to the shop and asked if they had any Honda HDS that could work with my vehicle. The
shop owner told me they just had some new arrivals and one of them was able to
read and clear error codes with Acura.
The device was named Honda HDS. Well, as a Acura
owner, it was almost impossible not to have heard about the tool. At first, I
was worried whether I could handle the tool or not since I had never used one
before. The shop owner jokingly said, diagnosing a vehicle problem is not a
matter of fixing it or not, it was basically having access to a handy tool, and
Honda HDS was the one. So I followed his advice and bought one.
The software of this Honda diagnostic tool
I bought was the newest V3.002.032
version. The tool is quite easy to use. After entering the VIN number and fill
other blanks with my vehicle information, the device started to troubleshoot
problem. My car rebooted after I erased the error codes.
Another thing I love about this Honda HDS is that it has listed a System
Selection Menu clearly. By using the menu, I can not only find out the Check
Engine light problem, but also some potential problems in other systems. It is
very user-friendly.
