Review on Careucar Honda HDS HIM V 3.012.023

So I have had a lot of question on my Honda HDS clone setup lately so I thought I would do a bit of a review. HDS is a general term for Honda Diagnostic System. HIM is the specific tool (Honda Interface Module). Honda has had several tools, the HIM is two or three generations old, but the newer ones are not cloned yet (GNA600 & MVCI). I made a leap of faith and picked one up on Honda HDS to reprogram my TPMS sensors (I hate you Honda for this TPMS crap system). I have successfully used the TPMS features, CKP relearn, idle relearn, ECU reset, and cleared DTS faults. I belive this thing can data log, reprogram gauge clusters, and reprogram the immobilizer for new keys, but have not tried these things yet.

So the Honda HDS only has a RS232 DB9 serial port (no USB) and most laptops don’t have them anymore. The adaptor will plug into your laptops USB and replicate a RS232 port. You will probably need a RS232 to USB adaptor too. I have always had good luck with FTDI adapters (Future Technology Devices Intl – UC232R-10). The HDS will only connect to com port 1. So you may have to change your com port assigned number when you use a USB adapter. I have only used the HDS on a windows XP laptop so I cannot confirm this works on newer Windows.

Overall this is a very powerful tool that lets you do about everything the dealer can!
The factory service manual pretty much explains how to use the HDS in all of Hondas trouble shooting procedures. All of the things I have used have matched up, like TPMS and CKP relearn.

Honda Fengfan EGR Trouble-HDS help fix

Car information: 2009 Honda Fengfan 1. 8L, 114 thousands kilometers.
Car trouble : EGR warning light on

Diagnose trouble:
1) Firstly, I use Honda HDS to read out Engine trouble code, the DTC is P2413: EGR system trouble.
2) Use HDS to clear the DTC
3) Start up the engine, keep the engine speed as 3000r/min until the radiator fan to run, then make at idle, again read out trouble code, it still display EGR system trouble.
4) Check the circuit connection between the EGR valve and PCM, there is no loose.
5) Check EGR pipe and find no vacuum, remove the line connected with intake manifold, and use hand to block and find it has vacuum output, it means EGR pile is blocked, then I replace a new pipeline, the trouble is solved Honda HDS.

Nothing is more frustrating than getting in your vehicle to take a ride and discovering it can not be operated. My 2010 Honda Acura TL broke down last night when I was about to tour around the city with my girlfriend.

The Check Engine light on my dashboard turned on without any sign.
